With a goal of providing superior dynamic web development and managed web hosting services, Steve Oren founded ServerSide, Inc. in January 1999.
Steve’s first business venture, Integrated Systems Group, Inc., began operations in December 1991. Providing sales, training and support for distribution and manufacturing software systems, Steve grew ISG into a multi-million dollar operation with twenty employees and a client base of over 400 distribution and manufacturing companies located throughout the Midwest prior to selling the business in June 2000.
ServerSide’s initial growth came from providing this client base their first entry into the Internet: a simple web page bundled with web hosting. Able to adapt to the ever-changing technologies, Steve’s exceptional technical abilities were utilized to create a customer self-service portal, which fully integrated a popular and widely used accounting package to the Internet, in real-time.
This web based portal offered both customers and employees remote access to many aspects of the distribution and manufacturing software system, including ordering, real-time stock status, account history, payment history and more.
As anticipated, this portal gained great respect and attention from the distribution and manufacturing software community. Subsequently, the software application was sold to a large East coast accounting firm in 2001.
ServerSide quickly realized the opportunity and necessity of providing more than just hosting and web development. Today’s managed services offer clients outsourcing of their technology needs.
